I'm the mother of two adult daughters. I was a single mother when my first child was born. I grew up in a large extended family and baby-sat for neighbors and family till I left home. I worked as a camp counselor in the summers. As an adult, I spent most of my professional life working in the arts and cultural sector, in either an executive or managerial position, in London and in Boston. I took two years out of that field to work as a parent counselor and resource referral specialist for an organization dedicated to helping families with young children, including training and support groups. Most recently, I was employed as a part-time live-out nanny for an infant girl, and stayed with the family for 3.6 years, until I moved back to Massachusetts. I consider that child and her family my extended family and we video chat regularly. Read more In my experience, the heart never has a "no vacancy" status; it expands as needed throughout our lives. There's always room for more occupants! I'm now semi-retired, looking for a flexibility in my working hours and the chance to support my neighbors in the community.
