Hello my name is Hillary, I'm 30 years old and a lot of my friends and family call me "Hillary McPhee." the reason for that is because all of the children in my family and neighborhood flock to me and love to hang around me. After awhile I started baby-sitting and taking care of the younger ones in the neighborhood and I have to say, it feels very rewarding. There are a lot of parents that cannot afford childcare so I was there to help out as much as I could. One family in particular had 3 kids. 2 boys and one girl. This was a full-time job working Monday - Friday 6-7am - 5-6 pm. Sometimes the parents wanted a date night on Saturdays and I was all for that! I definitely support the date nights! My daily duties required me to make a healthy breakfast for them, gather Read more their school stuff and drop them off. In between time, while they were at school I did some housekeeping. After school I picked them up, fed them, and assisted with homework. Sometimes I made family dinner if it was required. I actually enjoy cooking! I became a caregiver because this is the only job where you are greeted with nothing but unconditional love and who doesn't love that everyday? The stuff I do is so much appreciated by the little ones and that makes me feel very good. What you do for them today will make a big impact on them through life later on. I always went home happy and with a smile on my face and showed up every morning the same way. I believe what makes a good caregiver is the love and connection you have with your children because while the parents are away you ARE the step parent. There needs to be a good balance of love and guidance. I am their teacher as well as they are mine. When I care for my children, in addition to your schedule that you have them on I love to read with them and put together puzzles. Play fun educational games like color/number/math cards. Color by number has always been my favorite because both learning numbers and colors at the same time is always great!
