I have a long resume of working with children, both as a babysitter and in a professional capacity. When I was younger, I babysat for neighbors during high school. I attended Sarah Lawrence College where I worked for two years as a classroom assistant. I spent one year in a 6th grade math classroom and the next in a third grade reading/writing classroom. During my last two years as an undergraduate, I worked as a homework tutor for children ages 5 through 13 at a public library. Over two summers during that time period, I always worked at Camp Linden, a nature education day camp sponsored by the Philadelphia Ethical Society. The program bussed kids from community centers in Philadelphia and Wilmington out to West Chester, PA (where I grew up) to give them a taste of the great outdoors. I designed curriculum for the kids, made them meals, gardened Read more with them, played outside, supervised them at the camp pool and the river, and mediated conflicts. I plan to continue working with kids as a babysitter, counselor, and as a community educator with a social justice lens!
