Hello! My name is Aaron and I have five years of childcare experience babysitting, tutoring, and camp work. As this experience suggests I am flexible and adaptable, whether you need someone to help with homework, do creative programming, play games or all three! I have one younger brother (that's him in my picture, all the way on the left), and am the oldest cousin of a large extended family (which you can see one impish blond part of holding my hand on the right). They are all very important to me, but they are quite the cast of characters. Defusing impromptu wrestling matches, putting down the youngest for bed, and entreating everyone while the grownups reminisced usually fell to me. I like to think these frequent and chaotic get togethers are where my initial talent for childcare came from! Thanks Fam! Since then I have received formal training and experience Read more from Grossman Day Camp, Camp Ramah Palmer, and America Reads Challenge. Informally, I babysat throughout high school around my neighborhood and lend a hand every now and then to my aunt and uncle, owners and operators of Woodmont Day Camp in New York. Currently, I am a Substitute teacher at EC Boston where I teach mostly young adults. I plan on going into journalism and have worked for the student paper, my hometown paper, and my local CBS affiliate back in Boston. Tutoring for the America Reads Challenge was one of the hardest experiences I've had with kids. School settings can be difficult and getting disenfranchised students excited about reading is no joke! I eventually reached a third grader with one of my favorite books, Captain Underpants. By the end of our time together he was not only excited about reading but writing his own comic book. He even let me draw some pictures! If you have any other questions about me or my experience please reach out. I hope to hear from you soon!
