Hi there! My name is Kaylie and I am 22 years old. I grew up in the Pittsburgh area. I attend the University of Pittsburgh to study psychology and fitness. I have a passion for children and development. I also believe in a healthy living lifestyle. I love to sing, dance, read and do anything creative/active. Our home growing up had families in need with young children living with us until they could support themselves. Thus, at a young age I learned how to care for not only infants and toddlers but ones with greater mental or physical needs. I began babysitting at the age of 12 for children of all ages. I had my first nanny position at 14 for an entire summer. During that time I watched two girls whom were 6 and 9. I also performed light housework and prepared all three meals each day for them. Read more In addition I cared for their two dogs. At the age of 15 our family took in a dad and his premature boy-girl twins. The twins came to us after only a few weeks out of the hospital. They were born at about 2 pounds each. For many months the twins were on lung/heart monitors and special formula/dietary needs. I became the primary caretaker for the twins everyday after I finished high school. Not only did I provide care for their basics needs (feeding, bathing, changing etc.) I also worked with them to ensure they developed properly to reach their milestones. Until roughly 3 years old I provided around the clock care including overnight/mornings. The twins are now 5 and healthy/happy. I also did part time babysitting jobs in high school for families with children of various ages (3-12) which included meal prep and transportation. During my freshman year of college I worked for the university for a program called Saturdays kids. I taught fitness/dance to mostly underprivileged children. Some of these kids have behavioral issues/special needs. During my sophomore/junior year of school my 3 nieces were born. I have also been their primary care taker on/off between schooling. Most of the jobs I have had in childcare have been very informal or friend/family related. Despite the informality, I believe that my experience and my depth of knowledge in not only basic care but child development, mental health, child behavior & emotion, nutrition, and exercise is what is most important.
