A little bit about me - I currently work at GE in their Operations Management Leadership Program. I studied Industrial Engineering in college and received a minor in French. I have had various internships in both manufacturing and the teaching of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to school aged children. Over the years, I have gotten involved in childcare in multiple dimensions, not only through babysitting. Growing up, I used to babysit the younger neighborhood girls and I volunteered coaching girls lacrosse when I was in high school. I enjoyed working with the younger kids. During my time in college, I took on a position as a nanny. When I started nannying, the boy (who is autistic) was 18 months old and only spoke his parents native language. When the older boy was 3 years old, he was joined by his brother who was born 7 weeks premature. I Read more nannied both of these boys until about 6 months after college and I am still in close contact with the boys and this family. In addition to experience babysitting and nannying, I am also an experience pet sitter. I grew up with 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, 2 guinea pigs, and fish and regularly take care of our neighbors two pitbulls when they go out of town. I also have experience with kids in a structured setting. I spent two summers as a "Near Peer Mentor" Intern for the U.S. Army GEMS program in Fort Detrick, MD, teaching science, technology, math and engineering (STEM) to 25-30 middle school aged kids each week. This required me to pass a public trust background clearance.
