I have been babysitting within my family for ten years. I have cared for children and teens aged three to seventeen over the past ten years, beginning with my niece who was born January 2006. In my science and technical secondary education, I participated in a health science technology training program that required OSHA certification, CPR, first aid and defibrillator training (April 2016), 12 months of hospital rotations and resulted in a medical coding certification. During my post-secondary career at Swarthmore College, I have taken a position as a mentor and student coordinator for a mentoring program funded through the U.S. Department of Human and Health Services Office of Minority Health. In this position, I have provided educational, mental, and emotional support for youth through math and literacy lessons, field trip organization, nutrition and life skills workshops and one-on-one counseling. I like to foster a child’s learning about the world and themselves through structured activities, but also by giving them opportunity to use their imaginations and take things from there. I am a very good listener and at making children feel taken seriously. I love to be reassuring and supportive. Additionally, I love having fun! I am skilled at using the resources reasonably for high energy fun. I’d like to highlight that in having four years of experience mentoring a diverse group of students, I am skilled at adapting child to child, based on their interests and age group. I am a terrific nanny and caregiver because I am fun and dependable. I am committed providing a safe environment for children in every sense. Every situation in which I am a caregiver, whether that be for a child, pet or home, my employer has been greatly satisfied and appreciative of my care.
