I have been working with children since being in high school. I would take half days in my senior year and go volunteer in the local kindergarten class in my towns elementary school. Even before that I babysat as a teenager for my neighbors children. After high school I went to CCRI and got my associates degree in elementary education and special education. Right after college I was lucky enough to get a job working for the town in which I went to school in and I've been employed with them, West Glocester Elementary School, since 1990. I primarily work with the fourth and fifth graders but do see all the grades. (Pre-K through five) I also work in an after school program which consists of children from grades 2-5, and have been doing that for about five or six years now. To supplement my income, for the past eight Read more or nine years I guess now, I have been working an extended summer school program with severe and profound special needs children ages 12-21. During the school year I take a minimum of 6 hours of professional development on topics that are current to what's being taught in the classroom as well as topics that interest me. I truly love my job even after all these years.
