My heart - and consequently, my experience - has always been with youth. I babysat throughout my teenage years. In college I worked for a nonprofit that fosters service learning and civic engagement for high school students. I was a school team leader and camp counselor. Post college, I led youth ministry for middle school and high school students while coordinating a children's program for low-income youth. I planned, implemented, and oversaw a weekly program for youth ages 5-16 whose parents were incarcerated. I personally case managed 217 Life Skills child graduates. I coordinated school visits, home visits, and routine check-ins with parents, teachers, counselors, and children. I believe in the power of building powerful, safe, and healthy relationships with young people. I have sought out several certifications to ensure up-to-date training: • Certified in Therapeutic Recreation Instruction and Rehabilitation for both youth and adults • First Aid/CPR Certified 2008, Read more 2010, 2013 • Certified as a Level One Life Coach by Wake County Human Services • Certified as a Ministry Child Care Provider by the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California
