I currently work full time as a trainee psychotherapist with late adolescents at Johnson and Wales University Counseling Services. My clinical work has included support of individuals with diverse mental health concerns, as well as differences and disabilities of a physical and cognitive nature. I am completing this internship as part of a low-residency masters program in clinical social work at Smith College in Northampton, MA. My studies at Smith have provided me with graduate-level training in both child and human development, as well as exposure to an array of strategies useful for supporting individuals and groups across the lifespan. Prior to beginning my studies at Smith, I graduated from Swarthmore College with academic distinction and earned a BA in Sociology and Anthropology. I began babysitting multiple children of mixed age Read more for my older siblings and families in my community when I was 12 years old. I now have over 10 years of experience caring for groups of children from infancy through the teenage years in numerous roles: babysitter, camp counselor, teacher, tutor, and dance instructor. This hands-on experience is enriched by my training in child and human development at Smith College. In addition to my strengths in areas such as tutoring and homework help, I also have a particular interest in outdoor activities (e.g. playing and exploring in nature, gardening) and different kinds of physical movement (e.g. yoga, dance, martial arts) as someone with an extensive dance background. I very much enjoy doing all of these activities with kids and would love the opportunity to work with a new family (or a few!) in this area. My internship hours are such that I am available for childcare Tuesday through Friday evenings after 5pm, as well as all day Saturday and Sunday. Though I would welcome opportunities to work with families on an as-needed basis, I have a particular interest in working with a family regularly, perhaps in a weekend nanny capacity. Additionally, I have a car and can travel easily if need be.
