My name is Penny. I am a stay at home mom of an 8 month old girl. I was in the workforce until I found out I was pregnant. I then babysat until I delivered Annabelle a four month old boy. He's one years old now and I babysat for him on occasion after my daughter was born, as she was premature and recovery took time. And being one of the older cousins from a huge family, I started babysitting at a young age (10 years old). Then for neighbors on occasion through high school. After high school I worked as a caretaker in a children's home in Northwest Alaska every summer for 3-4 yrs. We had up to 10 children (ages ranged between birth - 18 yrs old) at a time. Unfortunately, most had gone through multiple traumas at young ages. We provided a safe and loving environment in Read more the sometimes traumatic transition between taken from their parents to foster care or adoption. I also took care of my two little cousins ages 4 and 7 at the time their mother was going through intensive radiation and chemotherapy. I basically played mom while she was gone. I think it's important that children play and exercise (usually during play), experience new things through books, movies, outdoor activities, etc. and express themselves through play arts and crafts, singing and dancing! Most importantly it's important for me to see them laugh and have fun!
