I have had babysitting experience since I was 14 years old. I started off as a mothers helper for two children, age 6 and 3. I would keep them entertained by going swimming in their pool, or playing games with them outside, or inside with their toys. When I was 15, I started babysitting for a couple in the summertime who just needed someone for date nights on the weekend. They had twins who were 8 years old. I watched them for a couple hours on their house boat while they went out to dinner. I did not babysit again until I was 21 because in between those years, I worked in retail and attended college. He would try to manipulate me to let him use the computer or I pad, but I kept him distracted by bring over crafts such as beads to make jewelry for his teachers and mother, my guitar to try to teach him music, and my hackey sack to play outside. Even though he tried to outwit me, I kept my cool and disciplined him in a way that was not scolding, but rewarding. Since then, I have not babysat, but I love kids and have a lot of patience with them. I worked at a bead store for six years, and many children came and went with their parents. My job was very hands on with helping the kids create necklaces or bracelets, and I was able to successfully direct the children on how to create an affordable bracelet, even children who gave their guardians a hard time.
