My name is Maria Arvelo, I recently moved from Charlotte NC where I was a weekend nanny for one family of 2 boys for the past 6 years. The parents and I connected on Sittercity when the boys were 7 and 2. I've worked with them continuously through the years picking them up from school, cooking lunch and dinner, helping with the youngest in potty training among numerous other activities/events. I enjoy a lot of artistic activities such as painting, clay, making paper hats or cardboard box boats and taking advantage of a beautiful day outside bike riding, swinging, scavenger hunts. I was also a camp counselor for the Sumter SC YMCA where I worked with a group of 25-30 5-7 year old girls for three summers. Growing up as a Girl Scout I was constantly working with younger girls and though I was never a leader myself was constantly volunteering and helping other troops. I also have experience with younger boys from my three awesome and handsome nephews aged 11, 6 and 1 1/12. Last but not least because I absolutely love working with children, my very first job as a 16 year old was at Chuck E Cheese. I started out as a normal cast member (yes I wore the mouse suit) and worked my way up to birthday coordinator where I got to dance and play with the children but also had the responsibiliyy to administer the party, pizza, cutting cake and present and did so for 2 years before leaving for college. The family I currently work for admitted to hiring me because I use to have to play Chuck E. and they thought it was hilarious. I graduated from Winthrop University in 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in Music and Theatre and reside in Greensboro with my fiance, 2 cats and 2 dogs.
