Martha’s Bio

I am 50 years old and employed full time with the State of Tennessee at Austin Peay State Univ. However, I am single, fairly new to Tennessee and want to spend some of my spare time making money by caring for children, pets, or your home if you have overnight needs. Kids keep me real and I love being around them, so I can't think of a more entertaining part time job. My experience begins in my teens, and caregiving for children and pets has been a theme throughout my life. My college job in 1983 was as a live-in au pair for two boys ages 2 and 4. After that, I have never stopped babysitting for friends and extended family. I recently had 7 families that I do weekend sitting for in Clarksville. All military families, most hire me about once every other month for date night, but one hired me fairly dependably twice a month. That family has received their orders and moved on. I will miss their tykes but now I have more time for yours. I am happy to provide references on request from any of these families or from my current supervisor at Austin Peay. I have an undergraduate degree in History and Religious Studies with a Masters of Education in Counseling. This qualifies me to be a school counselor, however the track I studied was college student development and working with young adults. For your children's safety, I have a talent for seeing ahead and understanding what sorts of accidents can happen and preventing them. I am extremely vigilant without being a party pooper.  I have an excellent driving record and can transport your children should you need that kind of service. I worked for two summers at a minor league baseball field and always chose to work in the general admission family friendly sections of the ballpark because interacting with kids and families was more fun than watching baseball! My sister once nicknamed me the Hall Monitor; Why, is a funny story I love to tell. Finally I know how to clean up a mess and am very calm and practical when it comes to emergencies.
