I have worked for Knox County Schools for nearly a year, first as a substitute teacher, then as an educational assistant in a special education classroom. I have experience interacting with and caring for children as young as 4 and as old as 17, with a range of personalities, conditions, and needs. Before these positions, I worked as a tutor and writing consultant for college students, and as a reading tutor for elementary to middle school-aged children with learning disabilities. Though most of my paid experience has occurred within an academic context, I have informal experience babysitting and looking after children and infants for friends and family, and I would like to transition into a permanent care-taking role so that I can witness, and become a part of, the larger workings of a child's formative world.
