My name is Chris Gross and I am 25 years old. I grew up in Wasilla, Alaska and moved to Nashville for school in 2011. Then finally, after years of studying in the library and pounding Starbucks double-shots, I graduated from Vanderbilt this past August 2015 with a B.A. (Public Health | Chemistry) and a M.A. (Global Health | Narrative Medicine). I'm currently doing volunteering in a neuroscience lab before I apply to medical school this May (aside: I want to become a pediatric ER physician!). Why: Since I am in transition before medical school, I am picking up odd-jobs to make ends meet and save up for medical school. Most imply, I figured I might as well do something I enjoy. I've always loved kids. Throughout high school and college, I coached youth wrestling camps (K-12th), led Sunday school for 3rd and 4th grade students, served as a YoungLife Read more leader (9th-12th), and lastly, I volunteered as Summer Staff for a YoungLife camp (6th-8th). I've always had a heart for kids (K-12). I truly enjoy their energy and natural optimism, as well as their naivety. Things I Love: Waking up early, reading my Bible, talking with people, cooking food, playing with dogs, hiking, sweet potatoes, crunchy peanut butter, mangoes, avocados, rock climbing, camping, stargazing, long-boarding, mountain biking, snowboarding, fishing, and tutoring. (And, of course, house-sitting and baby-sitting!)
