I am a 47-year old mother of two who lives in the Cuernavaca neighborhood off Bee Caves. I have 2 boys (9 and 10), and my oldest was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder when he was 3 yrs. old. Now that both my children are in school during the day, I have started working as a part-time mother's helper, babysitter, organizer, house-cleaner, etc. It may seem strange to advertise myself as a "babysitter for the autistic", but I remember very clearly my intense fear of having anyone babysit my son because I just couldn't imagine finding a person who would understand him, or know how to interact with him, or be able to follow his routine to a "T" or to realize just how close you had to watch him to keep him safe. My son is capable of many "strange behaviors" (not strange to him, of course, but Read more most of the rest of the world!). I was so afraid that if he screamed or hit himself or threw food across the room or pooped in his pants, that a babysitter would completely freak out. So, I suppose I am advertising myself this way because even though I am not a professional, I know that I could handle pretty much anything that might occur. Due to my personal experience with my son, I have an endless amount of patience and understanding for what it means to be a parent of an autistic child and truthfully, we must get out of the house sometimes and take a break! I am an educated person (Masters in English) and I drive a Toyota van. I am able to work on Fri and Sat nights and also any time during the week from approximately 8 am to 2 pm.
