Hi! My name is Jessie Williams. I am a 28 year-old college graduate living in Hampton, VA. I recently moved back across the water from Norfolk, having purchased my first home in the Fox Hill area right by Phillips Elementary. I have a full-time job as a legislative aide and chief of staff for the Virginia State Senate, but I have an extensive background in childcare, nannying and youth services. In 2015 I returned to Virginia after a 2-year stint in Austin, TX, where I worked as a project coordinator for a digital media firm focused on encouraging young girls to be themselves (Amy Poehler's Smart Girls). In 2013, I completed my year of service with AmeriCorps as a Youth Coordinator for children in K-12. I organized an after-school program for 25 children and a summer camp for 12 children. I have experience with youth from all backgrounds, and enjoy Read more a setting in which I can engage the children, whether it be with planned arts and crafts, outdoor sports or board games. I encourage imaginative development and interaction. I have experience as a nanny for two different families, one with 2 children and one with 4. For both families I was in charge of transportation to and from schooling, sports practices and events and providing meals as well as light housekeeping and laundry.    I also have experience as a lifeguard and swim coach, and formerly worked for the American Red Cross, where I participated in and helped lead workshops on first aid and CPR. I own my own vehicle, have recently-purchased booster and car seats in my vehicle, a completely clean driving record and enjoy kids of all ages. I have no difficulties working with children who have developmental or physical disabilities. I am familiar with layouts of Hampton, Newport News and Norfolk, as well as most of the surrounding cities, comfortable with pets (I have a rescue pup of my own) and am able to provide homework help, tutoring and swim lessons in addition to general babysitting duties. Additionally, I do have regular experience with children, as my boyfriend has three boys from a previous marriage, ages 2 (turning 3 in December), 5 (turning 6 this month) and 9 (turning 10 in November).
