My personal experience includes nannying for a family with a pre-teen boy and girl for two years in high school. Between three and four times a week I would pick them up from school and drive them home. I would make sure they finished their homework, and occasionally I would fix dinner before their Mom came home. In conjunction with this nannying job, I would babysit for an afternoon or evening here and there starting probably around age 15. The most I've babysat by myself was three young children. I have a car and I love driving. One of my main plans for my future, along with many other girls, is to become a mom. I think of nannying as mom-training for the future. I find joy in nannying because I adore children! They truly are a gift from God and never cease to put a smile on my face. In my opinion, I am a good caretaker because I love to do what I can (within good reason) to make a child laugh or have fun. In addition, I am an organized person who doesn't have an issue with being stern when necessary. I also love arts and crafts and doing activities with kids. One of my favorite things to do with kids is read. My mom read me so many stories when I was little. It definitely had an effect!
