Hi! I am Raakel and 21 years old. I just graduated a semester early from Bucknell University. I just moved to Texas about a month ago so I am excited to meet new people and spend time with young kids! I am the youngest of three girls, so I have always been jealous of being able to be a big sister- so I love to babysit, it is more of an opportunity of entertainment rather than a chore. I have had many experiences of taking care of kids growing up. Since the 8th grade, I have been babysitting kids in the neighborhood. In high school, I became a certified employee for College Nannies+Sitters+Tutors and continued working for them when I was home from college. This was a great opportunity to babysit when families were on the go and needed to reserve a sitter/tutor last minute. I am a very quick Read more responder to my phone! I also was the captain of the cross country team after completing four years of running in high school, so I have a lot of experience with giving directions and keeping an eye out on everyone at all times. I even completed two full marathons and ran the entire coastline of NJ (139 miles long) during this time. In college, I completed 2.5 years worth of research at a local hospital clinic called ADMI (Autism and Developmental Medicine Institute). Although my work focused on MRI analyses, I surprisingly spent a lot of time with kids- even with mental abnormalities or psychiatric illnesses- from doing tasks like cooperating with them during eye tracking exams to making sure the remain calm while inside of the MRI machine (which isn't easy to do). I have a passion for doing work with kids and making sure their needs are met. I am also CPR and EMT certified since high school. My family originates from Finland, so I am fluent in Finnish. I have also taken Spanish in middle and high school so I can pass in conversation. I drive a 2017 model car (not even a month old) so it is safe to use in the need of transportation. I passed my driving exam in New Jersey (a state with horrible drivers) and now have a drivers license here in Texas. I have a clean driving and overall record. I normally take care of my pets in my home (2 very energetic dogs and a cat) so I am definitively a pet friendly person. I enjoy cooking for myself at home and when I was in college so I feel comfortable cooking light meals if needed. I am excited to meet new people!
