I work full-time but I miss the fulfilling experience of teaching and tutoring very much. I used to be a ESL teacher for a little over a year. I worked at a school aimed at serving adults, but most of our students were 13 to 19 years old. The adults also acted like 13 to 19 year-olds! Ha! I have informal experience with younger children (not babies) because everyone knows that I'm good with the kids. I'm a lot of fun, but I am pretty strict, too. I love goofing off with the younger kids, but older kids like me because I am very open minded and accepting (Read: I don't mind their rap music, piercings, or oh-so-edgy fashion choices). Anyways, I would like to try childcare because I am not sure if I want to ditch my current job and dive back into school in order to become a Read more *real* teacher. In short, I need a little inspiration. Maybe doing this short term will give me the inspiration to get certified. Also, I love animals! No, really. I volunteered with TWRC all throughout high school and I have been an active Houston Zoo Member for years. Me and Justin the Lion go waaaay back. The orangutan? She's my sister from another mister. I also have a cat who has a pet hamster. Yeah. It's like that. Oh, and I do CPR. I've been certified off and on for about a decade now.
