Hi! My name is Keegan Moynihan, and I am 21 years old. I have been watching over kids for many years. Most recently I was working in and through a YMCA in Illinois, where I was living at the time. I was running an after-school program at a local Elementary school. I loved this job, made a lot of wonderful relationships with the kids and my fellow staff. The school year ended, and I ended up relocating. I was also a lifeguard at that YMCA, and I am still First-Aid and CPR Pro (and Lifeguard Pro) certified. Before the YMCA in Lake Zurich I worked many years at a YMCA camp in Michigan. I (with the help of one other staff member) watched over a cabin of kids. Each session (2 week period) would be a different cabin and often a different age group, so I have had experience with Read more a large rang of ages. This job also provided me with many learning experiences (as one might imagine) involving leadership, peer pressure, and sometimes discipline (although in a normal setting, time-outs are often very effective). Before my years at Camp ECHO, my childcare experience is mostly private babysitting jobs. I love working with kids, and frankly, I'm good at it. I have an in-depth of understanding of the way kids think and how to interact with them. I have gained this knowledge through my years of experience and through the college courses I have taken in Psychology, Sociology, and Developmental Psychology. I also pride myself in having good morals and I try to pass along those morals both by enacting them in my daily life and by verbally communicating them when correcting behavior or through simple conversation. I believe very strongly in empathy, and that if people are taught to care for others at a young age it will stay with them throughout their lives.
