Think: "Socrates" or Mr. French from "Family Affair". I am a parent myself, with a daughter, "Honor", who is nine and reading at a high school level (high B's in math, but advanced a year in school). I want to help other parents do what they want to to help their children become happy, successful people; a parent's wish/vision for their children comes first. I spent time as an infant/toddler director, infant/toddler caregiver, preschool teacher, elementary school teacher (private and public) and have tutored up through college age. I am 90% done with an early childhood education certificate, I have an active elementary school certificate, a Bachelors (Liberal Arts), English/language arts certificate through eighth grade, and 90% of my Masters (Curriculum Design). My First Aid and CPR, taken many times, have lapsed, but every paycheck I receive goes partially into training chosen by the parents and children I serve. I Read more am free for odd hours assignment in the evening and even live-in assignments (my wife and daughter are fully supportive) and am seeking a long-term assignment with a family to mentor and tutor their children into adulthood under the parents' direction and vision. Specialties include: sensory-motor activities, multi-sensory & multi-modality learning, logic (formal and symbolic), critical thinking, creative/lateral thinking, conceptual blockbusting, English/LA arts, the classics (trained on Harvard's Five Foot shelf of books, which my daughter is presently reading through), true discipline (loving, from within the child with foresight and empathy, not external, and never angry or impatient), and ethics. I teach morals, politics, and religion subject to the parents' wishes, as those are the parents' prerogative, not mine. I teach my students maturity, independence and awareness. I have never taken drugs, don't smoke, drink, or gamble and am joyfully married, but my family is prepared for and fully supportive of my career. References, resumé, background check on request.
