Meet Karrie

I was born in Nuremberg Germany into a military family and am the youngest of three siblings. As a military family member I traveled a great deal but I consider Alabama my hometown. It is where I completed high school and my higher education. My alma maters include The University of Alabama at Birmingham and Jacksonville State University. I have also had the privilege of serving in the United States Army as a Medical Service Corps Officer. After completing my military service obligation I began my career in education. My experiences in education have included Classroom Teacher, Assistant Director for the Transition to Teaching program at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and Program Coordinator for After School Programming. My philosophy of education is that education is an ongoing process that takes place in a myriad of forms that is continuous and changes and improves the life of a Read more student. This process occurs within and outside of the classroom and at every stage of a student’s life. Education is a tool that prepares students academically and socially to be productive and effective citizens within their local and global community, now and in the future. In my personal time I enjoy spending time with my family, church members, and friends, traveling, singing, cooking, and reading. My two biggest supporters in my career are my husband and daughter. My future career goals are to obtain a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership or Public Policy with an emphasis in education. I firmly believe that children are our future and understand the importance of preparing today’s children in becoming tomorrow’s leaders.
