I'm a 53 year old mom. I have helped raise my nieces and nephews since the age of 17. Although I do not have grandchildren, my great nieces are much like my grand babies!! I've cared for them for extended periods of time and I love the opportunities!! I've recently filled in for a single mom when her sitter was unavailable; two children ages 6 & 5 (boy & girl). It went well, but the smoke alarm in the home was chirping and the mom knew it needed a new battery, but failed to fix it. There was no smoke alarm in the kitchen. The children don't listen to their mother, therefore they didn't respect me as an authority figure either. I'm aware it can take time to adjust to the level of communication needed with some children; patience is needed more with some than others. But I believe in Read more teaching and correcting children so their behavior, manners and respect will improve to create a more well-rounded child. I enjoy helping with homework, reading to any age (babies too), play with and do my best to make your child feel loved, secure, and encouraged!
