My name is Avery! I'm very social and outgoing, and I have a deep love for child development and teaching. I love art and literature, as well as the sciences, and want nothing more than to share my passion for life. Parenting is difficult, especially for single parent homes or families in which both parents work. Even with one parent at home, families can sometimes experience difficulties with personal strain and a lack of self care. When you've got 3 kids and a dog, your personal moments are rare and stressed, and it feels as though the kitchen will never be clean again. I worked as a weekly babysitter for a family in my neighborhood for two years, caring for a 7 year old, a 5 year old, and a 3 year old. I handled meals, basic housekeeping, hygiene as directed by parents' normal regimen, and babysat overnight on occasion. This particular family homeschooled, as well, and I aided in core-subject lessons when called upon. Between 2014 and 2016, I worked as a child supervisor at a recreational center run by the Boys and Girls Club of America, specializing in the oversight of 9-12 year olds. At any given time, this could include up to 30 children. The Leisure Program involved teaching interactive lessons, administering homework help, and dedicating personal time to each child to get to know them and learn how best to help them become the best they could be. In my experience, I've also administered care to special needs children (autism, low functioning autism, and mental dehabilitation) between the ages of <18 months and 7 years old.
