I have been working as a day camp counselor for Cross Trails Ministry over the past year, and spent the year before as a Kitchen Aid. This job required me to go from church to church all around Texas throughout the summer. We would work with the kids from 8-5 all week, doing various activities like arts and crafts, playing outside, story time, and facilitating meals and nap times. I had a personal group of between 4 and 10 campers each week, but worked in rotation with kids from other groups daily. These kids ranged in age from 4 to 15 years old. I spent one week as a Cabin Leader at one of our camps, which required me to be with kids 24/7, through activities, meals, and preparing them for bed. These campers were around the age of 8. In order to work with kids in this ministry, we Read more spend two weeks before campers come training for the summer. We analyze the different characteristics of kids at each age level, and do a good amount of role playing that prepares us to deal with all sorts of difficult situations from homesickness, to fighting, first aid, and emergency preparedness. I have babysat for infants as young as three months, and have babysat four kids under the age of two at once. (It was difficult, I have to admit) I have the most experience with kids under the age of ten, and have worked with just as many girls as boys. I have never smoked, maintain a clean vocabulary, and am highly experienced at knowing how to be appropriate around children.
