In addition to these traits, I have personal experience Read more with an autistic child. I lived with my four year old autistic nephew for a year, along with his two year old sister. Before, during, and after this time I babysat often and helped his parents through the struggle of understanding the mind of an autistic child while working with the fully developed child. I devised a solid routine for him and her in order for them to feel comfortable with learning and trying new things. I rebuilt this schedule until it became ideal for his needs and as he would grow and develop, I would adjust it to meet his new needs. I helped create positive associations with things he needed but had previously refused because they were unfamiliar. I was patient with him when he wouldn’t eat or behave as he should, trying to understand what he was experiencing from his own little world while still helping his sister grow and develop. Overall, I want to be a mother some day and I have always loved children. I love to see their personalities grow as their bodies grow too. Children are so special and their moments while young are very few in years but extremely crucial to their entire future. I want to make sure their futures are bright by starting them off right.
