Hello! My name is Madalyn. I've lived in Des Moines since 2019 and work most of the year as a psychology laboratory assistant instructor at Drake University. The somewhat seasonal nature of working in academia allows me to have summertime (May through August) and winter break (December and January) free to babysit, nanny, or help with other odd jobs. I am also available in a more limited capacity during the rest of the year, but if you are looking for someone to help part-time during the times of year when kids are on break from school, we might be a good fit. My goal when working with kids is to keep our time together enriching and creative - whether that be painting, drawing, or other structured art projects; reading; active / outdoor play; card games, board games, or puzzles; etc. I am also open to including more formal tutoring sessions Read more to help brush up on any of the school-related content that tends to get pushed to the wayside during summertime if that is something you are interested in. While I currently teach college aged students, I do have experience teaching younger kids and adolescents in a variety of contexts (beyond babysitting / nannying), including working at junior golf camps for ages 5-12, working as a water safety (swimming lessons) instructor for ages 3-14, and teaching yoga for groups ages 14-17.
