Hi! My name is Carrie, and I am a 22-year-old part-time student at New York University, where I am studying early childhood education in the hopes of becoming an elementary school teacher. I am Red Cross/CPR certified for infants and children. Safety is my top priority! I absolutely love children and have a great deal of experience working as a childcare provider. I have worked with tons of families over my long career and have experience with both boys and girls, from infancy through adolescence, and am used to watching multiple children at a time. I started my childcare career at age 11 as a "mother's helper" and was babysitting regularly on weekend nights by age 14. From ages 16-18, I worked for a local nanny service. From 18-20, I held various short-term/part-time nannying positions and worked regularly as a date night sitter while studying at Southern Methodist University in Read more Dallas, TX. Since I transferred to New York University in fall 2013, I have worked as an occasional sitter for a handful of families throughout the City. In summer 2014, I worked as a FT nanny for two girls, ages six and eight. As a nanny, I am attentive, caring, energetic, patient, and fair. I respect children and value their thoughts, feelings, and opinions, so I always make a point to listen and talk to the children in my care. I love arts and crafts, playing games, reading, taking trips to the park, playing outside, swimming, and more. I prefer to stay actively engaged with the kids rather than simply placing them in front of the television. I can be goofy and playful but am also very responsible. Since I am studying to be a teacher, I've spent lots of time working with kids in school settings and also have experience as a reading and writing tutor. I love reading to/with kids, helping out with homework and more. Also, thanks to my teacher's education, I have extensive knowledge about children's, toddlers and babies physical, emotional and cognitive developmental needs and put this information to use when working.
