I am currently pursuing a career change. I spent 10 years in the Air Force before getting out to have my daughter. I wanted to provide her with stability that I, as a military "brat," had never known. So, I used my 'transferrable skills' and became an accountant. I have always daydreamed about opening a daycare. As a matter of fact, my dad and I had planned the whole thing out one morning when I was in 7th grade. My desire to work with and nurture children continues to grow stronger with every day that I sit in a cubicle. It's now or never- I'm taking a leap of faith and following my heart, with the support of my amazing husband. I am a full time graduate student studying Early Childhood Education at GMU. When I graduate, I will open an in-home daycare. While I have never worked in a Read more childcare facility, I have a 4 year old daughter of my own who is the center of my universe. I am passionate about teaching her and nurturing her as an individual. I also love spending extra time in her preschool classroom, socializing with her classmates and teachers. This is where my passion lies. I love helping these littlest individuals learn about the world around them. Prior to serving in the military, I babysat. I was the go-to babysitter in our military communities. Parents trusted me with their children to the extent that they would go on weekend trips and leave their little ones in my care. One family even took me on vacation with them. I absolutely cannot wait to care for children (besides my own) again and hope that the right family will put their trust in me. Note: My own daughter, per an agreement between her father and I (we co-parent very closely), will remain in "school" full time until she begins kindergarten.
