Hello! My name is Romayit (Roma), I am getting my Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences and Developmental psychology at American University. I have been babysitting since I was about 13 years old. It started with my baby brother but now that he’s too old for babysitting, I have no children around me. I have about three years of paid experience, I have taken care of children with special needs, children in wheelchairs and premature infants. The love I have for children first lead me to a job in a summer camp with Bailey’s Community Center. I worked with kids from the 1st grade to the 7th grade; I worked with them on art, swimming, sports and various activities that they could think of. While that job was great I worked part time babysitting my neighbors special need daughter; she was wheelchair bound. I took care of her along with her baby Read more sister for two years and whenever the mother needs help I am the first one she calls. I am available every day except Wednesday nights because I volunteer at Inova Fairfax Hospital from 5pm to 10pm every week. I love working with children so much, they are innocent and their pure hearts are what makes our society better than it actually is. I love that children have limitless imagination and love in their hearts and I am just happy to be around them. Children love me because they don’t see me as an authority figure but they see me as one of them. Especially, children from 7 to 13 years old, I am able to connect with them because it’s not so long ago I was them, I have siblings their age and I am still able to be seen as someone to listen to. I am getting a bachelor in Developmental psychology to work with children when I become a doctor.
