My name is Claire, I'm 32-years-old and recently quit my job in order to go full-time at school in the fall and finish my master's degree. I'll be taking one course this summer, so my availability is pretty open at the moment. I am the oldest of three kids. My little brother is 10 years younger than me, so I helped my mom out a lot growing up. More recently, I've spent a great deal of my time with my best friend's two wonderful kids. She has a two-and-a-half year-old boy, whom I adore, and a beautiful daughter who was born at the end of January. I am godmother to her daughter. I've babysat and helped out with her son since he was a little baby, and I'm doing the same now with her daughter. I am also well-versed (scarily so) in all things Thomas the Train, Dinosaur Train, Curious George (whose sounds have an unfortunate way of getting stuck in your head), Cars and Peter Rabbit. I've worked, until now, for 12 years as a journalist. I have a curious and quick mind, and learn quickly. I have traveled extensively throughout my life, and lived as an expat in Belgium (growing up) and in Prague (as a journalist from 2008-2011). I was a lifeguard from age 15 until 22, working at indoor county rec centers and in the summer at the Lake Fairfax water park. I am a great cook, and read a lot about cooking, food and nutrition. I love music--favorites include Joni Mitchell, Johnny Cash, Joanna Newsom, Cut Copy, Jamie XX and because I'm a 90's girl, I harbor a weird soft spot for Britney Spears. One of my biggest creative outlets is nail art, so if you have a daughter who'd love to have her nails painted with something cute, I'd have a fun time doing that.
