I began babysitting at 13 for two neighborhood boys, aged 3 and 7 at the time I began. I babysat weekly and occasionally on the weekends for the family. I continued through my teens to babysit for families from my church and in the area, most notably as a weekly sitter for two girls, aged 3 and 6, and as a weekend sitter for one girl, aged 6 when I began.  In college I continued as sitter for two girls, aged 9 and 11. I was responsible for transport, homework, and sometimes dinner for the sisters. I also took care of two pets, a rambunctious dog and a cat.  Through college I worked part-time as a birthday party leader for small children and as an after-school sports instructor for elementary-aged children.  I spent two years teaching in Philadelphia, where I worked with children receiving special education services in the inner Read more city public school system. Both challenging and fulfilling, I taught 7th, 3rd, and 4th graders.  I currently teach 5th grade special education in Powhatan County, Virginia.  I have been teaching in PCPS since 2012.
