I worked for twenty four years as a middle and high school English and history teacher, but I had to take disability retirement because of the stroke I suffered several years ago. I want to continue to work and a Nanny or Babysitter position appears to be a perfect fit between my interests and background. Since I had my stroke, I have a mild form of aphasia, which makes word finding sometimes difficult. I was committed to go back to work as a teacher. I worked hard to make it happen. However since then, I learned that I have a rare genetic disease Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome vascular type. Although I continued to teach, lesson planning and lecturing all day long became difficult with my new diagnosis, I was forced to take disability retirement from the teaching profession. Throughout the years as a teacher, I developed a lot of experience with children. Read more I reached those kids that many other teachers couldn’t reach and they excelled. Over the years, students came back to tell me that I was the toughest teacher in school and they loved every minute. After I retired from teaching, I stayed at home to take care of my kids and my wife worked. The kinds of things I do with my children are hiking, letting them go to the park, taking the kids to their events, doing puzzles, and helping them with the homework. Give me a chance, because I just about the best at dealing with children and getting the most from them.
