I love kids & am looking to get back into working with them more after completing a recent volunteering experience with middle schoolers where I facilitated therapeutic art activities. I have about 6 years of experience working with kids in childcare, summer camp, tutoring, after-school programs, volunterring, and other more instructional settings for kids ages 2 and up, though most of experience has been with kids 4 and up and elementary aged. I am moving to Colorado next summer and have been working from home since covid as a Customer Care Representative for a mental health practice and would like to start working with kids again becasue I miss it and don't feel like I am growing or able to use my creative strengths with the current structure of my job position having become a corporate call center! I got my Bachelors in Integrative Studies, Individualized Concentrations in Mindfulness & Read more Creativity, so that I can pursue a Masters degree in Art Therapy. The grad school I would like to go to is Boulder, Colorado. I love art and creative activities, dance, music, writing, poetry, and literature included! Kids are natural artists and understand the inherent therapeutic and empowering nature of creativity and this a huge part of the reason why I love working with them! I also love yoga, Mindfulness, and psychology and really believe in the power of cultivating Mindfulness and social-emotional development and self awareness in kids to help them manage their emotions better and develop healthier relationships with themselves and others! I love nature, the outdoors, travel, & learning about other cultures. My learning/teaching philosophy is inquiry & play based as I have seen how we all learn best and are more motivated to learn in things we really interested in & are allowed to experiment and make mistakes with. The most common qualities I have been known for in my work with kids (and adults) are compassionate, kind, creative, patient, diligent, and playfull! I would like to give my workplace a 1 to 2 week notice before I quit so I am looking to find a best fit babysitting job to quit my corporate position. I am open to share my resume, references, and do a zoom call or meet in person but I'd like to make sure it's a good fit before I commit & quit my current full time job. I am hoping to start babysitting July 11th!
