Hi there! My name is Rachelle, and I am the mama of a sweet 18 month old boy. I am looking to take in 1 child (possibly 2, depending on their ages) to care for in my home, along with my son. This way I can supply you with affordable/flexible care. I am also willing to consider pick-up/drop-off options If my home isn't in a convenient location for you (I have a perfect driving record). I prefer to find a client who needs close to full-time and hopefully long-term care. My Husband and I are in our early thirties and we have a very gentle fur baby (dog) who is incredible with our son! After a long career in management, I am currently working on obtaining my CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) in order to do more of what I love- Caring for and teaching children! I have experience in Read more early childhood education, pre-school curriculum planning, literacy projects with pre-school age children, children's programs in women & children's shelters, 7 nieces & nephews all under the age of 12, and of course my own 18 month old son. My son was also a preemie, with an unfortunate stay in the NICU, so I also have an understanding of infants/children with light special needs. If there are more advanced special needs present, I am always willing to learn from you and your child, in order to give the best care possible. I like to encourage imaginative play and exploration, as long as the environment is safe and secure for the children to do so. Exploring the outdoors is also on the top of our list, when possible! Especially with younger children, I re-direct activities or their attention as needed in order to set them up for success (rather than harsh forms of discipline) and I am consistent in follow up and following our house rules (no yelling, hitting, throwing objects at people, behaving politely towards others, no swearing, etc..). I am always acting silly, coming up with goofy games, singing songs, and you may find me crawling around on the floor through our imaginary jungle! Education is also important my family and I, so we like to work with word and letter recognition by way of flashcards and object naming, the sounding out of words for my son to mimic, and singing silly songs with word play, etc. We also have a plethora of learning toys to discover colors, sounds, English & Spanish, work on coordination skills, the list goes on! If you would like to chat a bit or have any questions, please do let me know!
