I come from a home where children were around all the time (mother ran an in home daycare/preschool). Not only was I helping watch my younger sister, whom is 7 years younger then me, but I was also helping watch the many other children who roamed the house. I had several neighbors who would ask me to babysit and also babysat for a couple of my teachers when I was in school.
