Hi! I'm so glad you've come across my little profile. Hopefully you can get a feel for who I am in a few paragraphs. :) My family and friends have always pointed out how "good" I am with kids. I think it's because children respond instinctively to my nurturing and positive energy. It has been my experience over the years that my upbeat and outgoing personality seems to encourage children to complete tasks that they may not want to do, or would otherwise resist if presented to them in a more stern fashion. I'm all about positive reinforcement and having fun. And while being fun is a big part of my philosophy, it is equally important to me that safety, both physically and emotionally, is always a priority. I make a point to be reassuring and loving when a child needs me to be, and to always do everything in Read more my power to keep kids out of harm's way. My ability to provide the security and feeling of safety for children is perhaps one of my greatest strengths, and kids can really connect with me because of it. Establishing emotional connections with people is something I tend to accomplish very quickly, and children seem to love that! Communication is key with kids and parents alike, and my communication skills help me to be in tune with the needs of every family I work with, even if it's just for one date night. I have an excellent memory and a big heart! As a former employee of the Boys & Girls Club as an after school counselor, I have professional child care experience as well as years of experience babysitting and nannying for family, friends and teachers. I have babysat a school-aged boy with autism several times over the years, have nannied an infant and a 4-year-old, and have worked with kids of all-ages (either at work for the Boys & Girls Club or just babysitting). I also grew up as the oldest sister of a 5-kid household (I have an older brother), so I spent a lot of time babysitting my three younger siblings throughout most of my life. My favorite things to do include taking walks to the park, coloring, reading, and playing hide-and-seek. I also specialize in dance parties and awesome crafts. Outside of child care, I work part-time as an assistant at a bed-and-breakfast in the central area. I also worked as a restaurant hostess for over a year. Hospitality seems to be a trend for me. I am hoping to eventually build a career involving children, but for now I would love to help you out so you can go on that date or have that meeting!
