After graduating from Appalachian State University in North Carolina, I worked as a full time nanny in Washington, D.C. for two precious girls (ages 2 and 5). My experience included toilet training, preparing lunches and snacks, helping with KUMON tutoring work, reading lots of books, creating art and cooking projects, playing outside, going to library story time and other community events, arranging play dates, tidying up around the house, etc. After my position ended, I spent 1 year teaching high school in Spain followed by 4 years teaching at a Montessori preschool (ages 3-6) in China. I lived abroad from 2012-2016 and moved to Seattle less than 1 year ago. From my past work experience you can probably already tell that I adore children. I love their energy, curiosity and love of life. I have experience caring for children of all ages but I especially love taking care of infants Read more - 6 years old. I enjoy things that kids like to do such as crafts, reading, cooking/baking, dancing, board games, imaginative play and spending time outside. I am hard-working, motivated and energetic with a positive can-do attitude. I have also worked as a household manager; my duties included grocery shopping, meal planning, cooking, light cleaning, and household organization. I love cooking and I'm very interested in healthy eating. At home, I enjoy making sugar-free, gluten-free meals but of course I am willing to prepare meals according to the family's diet. My child-rearing philosophy is strongly Montessori. I believe that parents should help their children succeed in life by giving them responsibilities early on. Children should be taught the skills needed to take care of themselves (put on shoes, change clothes, helping in the kitchen, etc). With independence, children will develop the confidence and work ethic to succeed as they mature. I would like to work for families that respect their children's independence and provide a happy household where children feel loved. I also value open and honest communication between the caregiver and the parents; we are in this together! "Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed." -Maria Montessori

I cannot recommend Annie highly enough. She has worked for my family since November 2017 and the joy she brings my now six-month daughter is remarkable. Her Montessori background is evident as well as her love for children. Annie is professional, prompt, and a strong communicator. Not only has she has blended into our family seamlessly, she is consistently willing to go the extra mile by helping with household chores. The number of bottles and pump parts that she has washed while our daughter has slept seems endless. In sum, our daughter lights up whenever she sees Annie – it is a pleasure to watch their interactions and it is an absolute pleasure to work with Annie.

Annie watched my 6 month old infant and 3 year old son for four days while my husband and I were in Seattle for work. She did an incredible Job of planning fun outings for them so they didn't have to be in the hotel all day. She even took both of them on the bus around the city, which is quite a feat in itself. My 3 year old LOVED his "Annie adventures" and was thrilled to spend the day with her. He often complains about being away from mom and with a babysitter, so the fact that he wanted to spend the day with Annie speaks volumes for how great she is with kids. Annie also did a great job of communicating with me. I asked for updates throughout the day, and she sent lots of pictures and kept a nice record of what they had done and which kid slept when. She even got my three year old to nap in our hotel room while she played with the baby. Amazing!! It was easy to set things up with Annie, she was prompt and did a great job with my kids. I would definitely use her again!

We feel so lucky to have found Annie! We needed temporary (3 month) after-school care for our two boys (ages 4 and 6), which included picking them up from the bus stop and preschool in her own car, giving them a snack, getting their energy out, homework help, and occasionally getting dinner going. She's been incredible! Just like a good teacher, she's friendly, approachable and didn't hesitate to jump in and give the kids direction. They can be a a little wild at times, and it hasn't seem to phase her! Every time I come home, they are happy, giggly, excited to tell me what they did with her that day, and insist on giving hugs and kisses before she leaves. She's very confident, clearly experienced with kids, and takes initiative to do helpful things around the house that we really appreciate. She's a perfect fit for our family in multiple ways, and we'll be hiring her as long as she'll have us!

Annie filled in for us for two weeks until our permanent nanny could start. My 1 year old daughter loved her right away. Annie is so kind and cheerful and always has a smile on her face. She treated our daughter with respect and interacted with her in such a joyful way. She is very mature and responsible and handled a small booboo perfectly. We were sad when the two weeks were up and wish she could stay with us permanently. We will definitely use her for future baby sitting and recommend her to friends.

I contacted Annie on short notice to see if she could watch my daughter at her preschool the next morning. We talked and Annie was willing to come up north from downtown Seattle to meet us at 8am! Annie started by spending some time with my daughter in the outdoor playground behind her preschool until the teacher came to open the school. Annie was amazing, conversing with my daughter in a very friendly way. It was only a matter of a few minutes before my daughter was socializing with her and actually fine with me leaving! She was very happy that morning to be at her preschool, and to be with Annie, her teacher, and her friends. Annie spent the rest of the morning with my daughter and I returned finding her very happy. The teacher also enjoyed meeting and getting to know Annie. Thanks so much for meeting us and taking care of Cookie!

Annie provide nanny care for our 2 year old son for about 3 months. From the start, it was clear Annie was well organized and really made an effort to make each day for our son as productive as possible. She connected very well with our son, which says a lot given he is very attached to mom and is strong willed. She took a compassionate approach while consistently providing the boundaries and guardrails our son needed as a part of his development. We wish she could have stayed on longer, but circumstances and timing didn't allow! We would highly recommend her to other families seeking nanny or babysitting care.

We had a great experience with Annie! She is professional and dependable and instantly connected with our two year old daughter. From the moment she walked in, she was focused on building a trusting relationship with her and it paid off! By the end of the day, our daughter wanted her to stay forever and still talks about all the fun things she did with Annie. Annie was flexible with our working environment which had me in and out of the house throughout the day and the house was clean and neat when she left. She was creative in her playtime with our daughter and exhibited unending patience with a super energetic toddler. We're looking forward to hiring Annie again and recommend her without reservation!

While Annie took care of my children for only one day, I would definitely call Annie for my future childcare needs. She came on such a short notice, and was on time for a very early start 5:30 ! Annie took care of my 6-mo old & 4 yr old daughters. I felt comfortable with Annie right away and she did a great job, my daughter loved her. During the day , Annie provided us with frequent updates, and she was more than happy to tell me about her day with the kids! she is very practical - for example, she carried my infant to pick up my 4 year old from school since our stroller was in my husbands car.

Annie has been a very good fit with my kids so far. I have a 7 year old girl and a 10 year old boy. She has provided care for them on two nights from about 5-10 or 11 pm. My kids are high energy and often clash on their desires, but they both have appreciated Annie's way of making things work between them. They describe her as "a lot of fun" and "she knows how to make us behave, but she does it really nicely." As for my own experience: Annie has been punctual, a clear communicator, and has spent the time the kids are in bed emptying my dishwasher, cleaning up, and making my return to the house super pleasant. She has a very warm way of interacting, and comes across very relaxed and at ease, which makes my kids feel safe and at ease.

Annie showed up on short notice to be a mommy's helper as I recovered from a c-section. She was easy to reach and responsive leading up to her arrival. Annie is professional and has a great, helpful attitude. I really appreciated her ability to self-direct and conduct house chores with both speed and thoroughness. Thanks for your help, Annie!

We hired Annie as a backup nanny for our six month old son. She was very responsive and on time. We hired her on very short notice but she still took the time to interview with us the day before. When she arrived at our house, we did a quick orientation and Annie learned everything very quickly. She dove right in playing with my son and keeping him entertained all day. When I came home my son was happy and everything was clean. She had such an amazing, positive attitude the whole time and took the time to understand how we did things with our son. I felt comfortable with her immediately as her questions and ways of handling my son showed that she knew what she was doing. I would highly recommend Annie!
