I have over ten years of varied childcare experience, running the gamut from preemie care to nanny shares to housesitting with preteens. I have master’s and undergraduate degrees in international affairs and have worked primarily in the non-profit sector. I am currently available for short term or periodic sitting while my career is in transition. I believe that the commonality between these seemingly divergent vocations is a passion for human connection. I enjoy getting to know children and their parents as individuals. I also individualize my childcare approach, depending on the needs, personality, and interests of the child/ren, as well as the expectations and childcare philosophy of the parents. While I don’t think that people should take themselves Read more too seriously, I take the role of being an adult caretaker figure in a child’s life very seriously. I love getting outdoors with kids, engaging in creative play, and anything to do with books or music. I think it’s important to balance fun and flexibility with clear expectations, firm boundaries and well-informed safety practices. Above all, I think it’s important to be engaged (in other words, you won’t find me buried in my cell phone while your child's halfway across the playground), while also fostering confidence and independence (in other words, you won't find me hovering or hyperventilating, either).
