I am seeking some occasional babysitting or part-time nanny work to support my partner and I during grad school (I am in the Master of Social Work program at VCU). I have extensive professional childcare experience, having previously worked as a full-time nanny, and on a free-lance basis with a number of wonderful families. I also grew up with a dad in the Army so I have worked with many children, of all ages, through our FRG (family readiness group). Professionally, I've worked as a Program/Project Manager for a number of years in the non-profit space and am well-versed in juggling many responsibilities. In addition to family and professional experience, I graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology concentrating in child development. While at Virginia Tech I also earned a second degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, which makes me uniquely qualified for childcare. Having been in a theatrical environment, and then later in the non-profit world, I am outgoing and comfortable with myself in settings where I must balance the need for attention and respect while remaining agile to the needs of those around me -- what could be more useful than that when you are attempting to corral a rambunctious toddler or encourage a shy child to dream big? I have spent time working as a chef so I am very open to the idea of helping a family with meal planning, shopping and cooking if and where it is needed.
