I am a 40 years old and have been caring for children since I was 15 years old when my sister had her first child. She was a single mother and I was her full time day care while she worked. I helped raise him with her and over the years became more of a mother to him than an aunt. He is now 23, married and just had his first baby. I have also had 2 children of my own, a 16yr old daughter and a 18 yr old special needs daughter who is epileptic, diabetic, and developmentally delayed. I also am the legal guardian of my 16 yr old niece. I have worked for KinderCare, had a home child care license and have done babysitting for many years. I went back to school a few years ago to study child psychology. I am looking to make a little Read more extra money and to help someone out who needs to work but cannot afford the horrible costs of child care these days. I am a caring individual with a lot of experience with children of all ages.  I do not believe in a lot of TV related time.  I prefer books and toys and active learning, this is what I encourage my own children with and would do with yours. Outdoor activities, rain or shine, are always encouraged.  Singing and dancing are both big things in my home. We also have a piano, guitar, and pool table that the children can play or listen to. I will encourage learning at all times no matter what age. I am an open minded person and I believe in encourage learning all the time so I always encourage communication, sometimes more than they want and teach everything I can. If nothing else I will teach manners and when they are needed and when it is ok to relax!  I am available almost any time and I am flexible and reasonable in hours and price, however I need someone who is flexible and reasonable with me also. I will respect your needs and appreciate your respect also.  I do not have a medical degree; however, due to the extent of my daughter’s conditions I have a LOT of medical experience. I do not have a problem caring for a special needs child. I have experience working with autistic children due to my daughter and I have a nephew who is autistic.  My mother was a nurse so I learned a lot from her and my schooling in psychology.  I live on the edge of Graham/Puyallup area in a decent, neighborhood in a newly remodeled smoke free home. I have pets; dogs, cats, fish and a turtle.  My family helps out with the care. My husband of 20 yrs IS my partner and has shared in everything in my BIO.
