Hi there! My name is Allie Barringer and I just moved to Madison from Chicago. I am currently living in the Atwood neighborhood, very close to the Olbrich Botanical Garden. I will be pursuing a PhD starting this fall in Human Development and Family Studies at UW Madison. I have found this city to be extremely welcoming and I look forward to meeting families whom I can form a positive relationship with...and help out with childcare, of course! I have 12 years of babysitting experience, including a position as a full-time, summer nanny. Working with youth has also become a large part of my professional career and I believe I have very unique experience because of it. Most recently, I was working in Chicago with adolescent education around violence prevention and building healthy relationships. Allie was supposed to provide over-night dog-care in her home for an extended period of time. At the last minute, Allie cancelled, leaving us in quite a bind. I had tried to contact her for several days leading up to the day we were supposed to drop our dog off at her house. She finally texted me the day before to say she couldn't dog-sit after all. The reason was that her roommate either had not been consulted earlier or had changed her mind. Allie felt no obligation to fulfill her agreement until we could find another dog-sitter.
