Hello! I'm Alissa! Thank you for taking the time to check out my profile! Here is a bit about me. I come from a pretty large family; I am the second oldest of seven children with my youngest sister being 7 years old. I'm a proud aunt to my 5-year-old niece and 1-year-old nephew. :-) Currently, I am in my last year of college. I am studying elementary education and will be licensed to teach first through eighth grade with additional certification in science, English, and community studies. Right now, I am kept busy student teaching with my first graders full time, but am looking for weekend opportunities and occasional weeknight! Through school I have worked with a variety of age groups including time in multiple fifth grade classrooms, in middle school working with 6th-8th graders, in a second grade classroom, and most recently, with first graders. During my time Read more in these classrooms I successfully planned and executed many academic lessons and units. I am a meticulously organized person who has the patience to deal with 22 first graders and the grit to teach 120 middle schoolers. I have passing credentials through my college for both Praxis I and Praxis II along with exceeding passing scores on the Foundations of Reading Test, which assesses my ability to teach young kids the fundamentals of reading and writing. Additionally,in the past, I worked as a Preschool teacher working with children up through 4K. I have maintained a number of part-time and temporary care giving positions. I have worked with a now 6th grader for many years tutoring and assisting with after-school work, I've nannied for five children ranging from 13 years to newborn, and also, as noted above, and was a nanny for two young boys this past summer who I still remain a frequent sitter for. I am very caring, patient and love interacting with people! I am a self starter and always aim to exceed expectations. I have the ability to work with minimal guidance, but also the flexibility to handle whatever is given to me. I look forward to hearing from you! Alissa
