I started babysitting when I was eleven years old. I felt incredibly empowered watching one small baby and making sure she was safe and happy. It didn't even matter that her mom was upstairs working; I was very conscious to make sure she wasn't too hot or too hungry and had everything she needed. I babysat this girl until I went away to college. I watched her grow up, become a big sister, a writer, a archer, and a babysitter herself. My love of babysitting has set me on a path to become an educator. Specifically, I love teaching science and natural history, but any learning opportunity with a child is special. In past positions, I have taught at the Philadelphia Zoo, state parks in New Hampshire and at a daycare at my college. I am currently working as an environmental educator at Trap Pond State Park in Laurel Delaware. Read more I became an educator because I love enhancing children's curiosity and ability to work things out for themselves. Being a part-time nanny or babysitter would not only enhance my abilities as a teacher, but reconnect me to my roots as a caregiver more than a teacher. My certifications include AED and CPR and Wilderness First Aid. I enjoy arts and crafts, hiking and science experiments, as well as cooking and baking.
