Beyond 6 years of casual babysitting work, I nannied full time for 8 months for an infant and a toddler. I got into babysitting to help out teachers, family friends, and relatives as a teenager and found that I really enjoyed taking care of children and even adults. To me, a babysitter isn't meant to just watch a child, but is meant to give them important social interaction and teach them a lesson in independence (time away from parents/guardians), which becomes especially significant the younger they are.
