I have always loved working with children, helping them to discover the world and spark their imaginations. I am a firm believer in the value of playtime, and I have a very involved approach to child care. My goal is to create a space in which children are safe and comfortable while nurturing creativity and imagination. I began babysitting at age 12, and I was a regular volunteer at an after-school and summer program for at-risk youth grades 4-8 in Birmingham, Alabama. There, I led students in educational activities such as reading, math games, arts and crafts, music, and African dance. I also regularly worked as a counselor for a musical theater summer camp. While attending Warren Wilson College, I coordinated a program affiliated with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. I was responsible for facilitating weekly programming including arts and crafts, speakers, and community service for children grades 3-8. Following college, I Read more worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA for LEAF Schools & Streets, organizing teaching artists for youth programs all over Asheville. I have been a Homeless Services Case Manager at Homeward Bound of WNC for almost 4 years. Though my job is fulfilling, I miss working with children. Thanks for your consideration. I look forward to meeting your family!
