I have been a care giver for 15 plus years now. I enjoy caring for others and it is my hearts work. My son was born in 2003 and not long after we learned that he was autistic. I was told he would not talk and be limited in skills. I was a work at home mom and was not going to let this just slide by. I worked with my son and studied as much as I could about the disorder. Today my son talks just fine and does well in school. In the mean while I studied more and supported Autism Awareness. In 2012 I went to work for a residential treatment facility and learned a great deal more. This disorder is very demanding of a parent or guardian.
