Shelby’s Bio
I became a caregiver because I genuinely enjoy the feeling that you get when you help someone else. I grew up being a middle child of seven siblings, so there was always someone to take care of growing up as well. I became interested in being a certified nursing assistant after working in a rehabilitation center for skilled nursing. I formed close bonds with the folks who lived there and always wanted to help more. I was a hard worker so I took a contract through my job to be licensed and fell in love with being a caregiver. I got so close with some people that they wanted me to continue caring for them from home, which was a rewarding experience. I moved to Arizona in the end of July 2020. I love working in a clinical setting but with COVID-19 I am making an effort to still do what I love but in safer settings.
As a CNA I was responsible for helping people preform their "activities of daily living" (eating, drinking, toileting, ect.), doing restorative cares (range of motion exercises and ambulation), repositioning, taking vital signs, and generally monitoring patients. In this setting I learned strong organizational skills and highly developed communication skills. I am able to keep a very level head in a high stress environment and I can multitask and prioritize very well.
Working in a rehab facility I saw many age ranges of people and although I don't have a long resume of professional work with specifically children, I love kids, and the specific skills I posses i believe would make me a proficient care giver in any setting. I would love the opportunity to help anyone who needs me.
